Ask an Aquanaut: Future Ocean Scientist?

Xandrie macasil asks: I have dreamed of becoming an oceanographer/marine biologist for a while now.  Do you have any recommendations for me to succeed and accomplish my life goal?

Dear Xandrie,
We love to hear from young students interested in the ocean and science.  Two main things you need to do, one is to work hard in school and as you get older focus on math and science.  The other suggestion is to get involved by participating in related activities outside of school.  See if there are any programs in your area at nature centers, aquariums, or parks that you could participate in or volunteer for.  As you get older you can look for opportunities for internships and other volunteer positions.

Anyone can be an oceanographer or marine scientist – good luck, dive in and dream big!
